Master Bath Closet - Before & After

As I keep going with my organization projects, here is one more closet that needed some serious TLC.

Yikes right?
Totally a mess eh?  I went back to Michael's and there storage baskets were still on sale, plus I had a coupon for 20% off everything, including sale items!  I love the Michael's app, it always has at least one good coupon on there, and they can be scanned right from your phone!
And here is the after!!

This makes me happy!
This is about 3 trash bags later.... I was definitely hoarding lots of body lotions and cute little shampoos and body washes.  If I hadn't used them in the past year, they went bye bye.  I grouped similar items together in each basket.  I have a "mouth" basket which has toothpaste, toothbrushes, lip gloss, floss, etc.  The other baskets I have are "hand/feet" (nail polish, hand sanitizer, hand lotion), "body" (perfume, lotion, deodorant), "face" (eye makeup, makeup cleaner) ,"hair" (shampoo, conditioner, mousse, hairspray) and a miscellaneous one (female hygiene and any other odds and ends that didn't have their own basket).  I also was nice enough to give Andrew two baskets....hee hee.  His are on top and are "body" and "hair".  He's lucky that he has two! :-)  On the floor is where I will keep the toilet paper.
Now I love opening the closet and easily grabbing what I need.  And with the baskets, I really hope I can keep it organized!

Weekend Recap

We had a great weekend! Saturday we took an impromptu trip to Disney. We went with my in laws and  brother in law. Epcot was the park we went to.

We got there around 930.  The in laws got there before us, so they got fast passes for Soarin and they waited in line. Once we got into the park, we headed to The Land.  We couldn't bring any strollers in, including Zack's, which was a bummer since he was sleeping. But I got to really test out my Ergo, so that was nice.

Once we got to The Land, we had about an hour to kill before our fast passes were ready.  We met up with the family and found a place to sit that was out of the way. I fed Zackary while Andrew went and got us some snacks. Finally, it was time for Soarin!

Fast pass for Soarin

It's been a while since we were on Soarin.  Love that ride!

Can't you smell the oranges and the pine?
After Soarin, we met back up with the in laws and the kiddos. Zack slept the whole time, and Kaitlyn ate a whole thing of Pez, so she was bouncing of the walls. We then went on Living with the Land, a boat ride.  This was Kaitlyn's first time on it. She didn't like the dark parts, but she enjoyed seeing all of the plants and vegetables.

We had lunch at the Electric Umbrella and then headed to the Character Spot so Kaitlyn could get her Mickey and Minnie fix. Pluto was also there, so she got to meet him too!

Super Excited for Mickey and Minnie!

It was getting late in the day, so we decided to head out of the park.  Spaceship Earth had only a 10 minute wait, so we went on that too! Again, Kaitlyn didn't like some of the dark parts. Zackary also started to get fussy, so I fed him for a bit, gotta love the dark rides!! And air condition too!

After the ride, we headed home.  Kaitlyn passed out pretty quickly in the car, she had a long day!
And mommy and daddy got some ice cream!
Tuckered Out
Shhh...don't wake up the kids!
Sunday we went to church where Zack is going to be baptized next weekend. After church, we went to lunch with the pastor and his family at Smokey Bones.  We ended the weekend with dinner and swimming at grandmas pool. Great way to beat the heat!

How was your weekend?

5 on Friday - Link Up

This is my first time doing the 5 on Friday link up, so welcome everyone!

1. I've been blogging for 3 years, all be it sporadically.  I started this blog when I was pregnant with my first child, and now that I just had my second, I think it's a good thing to keep this blog up to date regularly as we continue on this journey called life!  Right now I'm on maternity leave, so I have plenty of time to blog, let's hope I can keep it up once I go back to work full time!

2. We recently got a new roof and got a different color on our shingles.  And ever since, I have been itching to change the exterior color, it just doesn't go with the shingle color!  And I've never really liked the exterior color, but have just dealt with it.  I also want to paint our living and kitchen too.  The color is this weird color that changes from purpley-beige to green.....It's quite an awful color, but we have such high vaulted ceilings in there, that I've never wanted to paint it myself.  I think it might be time to bite the bullet and paint the exterior and interior of our house!

Need new exterior color, I'm thinking blue.....

3. I am ready for the cooler weather, thought I would never say that, I love me some hot summer in Florida.  But having a 7 week old, who really doesn't like the heat, it makes me want it to be cooler so he can enjoy being outside.  We went to Disney last weekend and it was just so hot that I couldn't enjoy it as much as we usually do, because I was worried the little bubba was overheating.  Bring on the cooler temps!

Kaitlyn on the Carousel, "It goes up and down!"

4. My favorite sweet treat right now is strawberries and cool whip, drizzled with chocolate sauce!  I like to think it's a little healthier than ice cream, so it's a win for me!

Yum!

5. Who's ready for some FOOTBALL?!?!?!  I am!  We are Gators and UCF Knights in this household!  Can't wait for some tailgating this year.  Woot Woot!!

Thanks for stopping by! :)  TGIF!

DIY Nursery Initials

My maternity list project is off to a great start!  First I got the linen closet organized, and now I completed Zackary's initials!  This was a super simple project, but looks great in the nursery.  This is what you need:

Initials
Scrapbook paper
Scissors
Pencil
Mod podge
Foam brush
Sandpaper-not pictured
Small wood whale

Super simple right?
The first step is to trace the letters, just make sure you trace them with the patterned side facing out.
Then cut it out
Then apply a thin coating of the mod podge with the foam brush to the letter, and put the paper on top of the letter. Let it dry.  If there are a few edges that overlap, lightly sand them with the sandpaper.
Once dry, apply another two coats of the mod podge on top, letting it dry in between coats.
And voila! Beautiful custom made initials!
And here are the final initials on the wall in Zackary's room.
I also added a little wooden whale to the Z letter, and painted it blue.  I think it adds a nice little nautical charm don't you think?

Linen Closet: Before & After

Here is one of my first projects that I did while on maternity leave.  It didn't take long, but it is such an improvement! I knew I wanted some baskets to store most of my linens in, so I picked up some at Michaels, lucky me they were on clearance, so I got them for real cheap, score!

Here is the before, stuff was jam packed in there and in no order whatsoever.
 And here is the after.

Much better right? Baskets really do make all the difference. I still want to get one more for the bottom, where all of our surge protectors are.  I also got rid of a bunch of old sheets and towels that we no longer use, and moved some stuff to its proper place.
Check one off the list!

Maternity project list

So since I am on maternity leave for 3 months (now down to 2 months, seriously???), I made a list of things I would love to get done around the house.  Zackary will nap so much in the beginning, and betting on me getting some sleep, I am hoping I can get some much needed things done around the house. Here is my list, which I may add things to as I go.

-Finish Zackary's nursery
This includes making and hanging his mobile, making his initial art, refinishing his rocking chair, and accessorizing.

-Deep clean the master bedroom and master bathroom
I've been putting this off for some time now, and what better time than now?

-Change up the living room decor
Being home all day everyday really gets me analyzing every space of my home.  And I am ready for a change in our living room.  Some ideas that I am wanting to do are spray painting our end tables, getting a slip cover for our sofa, re-organizing/arranging Kaitlyn's toy area, and creating a "man space" for my husband.

-Organize the linen closet

-Organize the kitchen cabinets

Lets hope I can get most of these done before I return to work!

Zackary - 5 weeks

Hey bubba,
Can't believe you are 5 weeks old already.  You are now cooing and making some cute noises, especially when you look at you mirror on your playmat.  You sleep pretty consistent at night, going to bed around 8:30 or 9 and sleeping for 5 hours.  You did have a couple 7 and 8 hour stretches, which mommy and daddy appreciated.  You are becoming more and more alert and your sister loves to give you hugs and kisses, sometimes too much!
You also had your first trip to Disney this week, gotta get you used to it! It was pretty I eventful for you. You hung out with mommy in the baby care center and we watched Kaitlyn ride the carousel. It was super hot out, so we didn't stay long.
We've also nicknamed you Grumpy, just because of the faces you make like the above one. But really, you are a pretty good baby!
Happy 5 weeks my sweet baby boy!
